the concept is great, but there is no listing of compatibility with certain ranges. my range has blue tooth, but won't connect to allow use of all of the features. that was the reason that i shelled out the money for the very expensive hood. i am going to push for an exchange of the range, or a complete refund.
very bad deal from samsung!

I purchased this hood, and also installed a new Samsung cooktop with bluetooth connectivity. By turning on any of the 5 burners on the cooktop, the high-volume hood fan starts without assistance, and remains on while the cooktop is still running. This feature set is extremely helpful, as I no longer ever forget to turn on the fan, avoiding those annoying smoke alarm events in my house.
The hood and cooktop look great, and are relatively easy to clean.

The add-on to make this product a recirculating vent is no longer produced. As a result the unit will not work as intended.

i can't recommend the hood for anything more than your average cooking. if i could return this product i would. there was not enough space for my full review. you can see it on the home depot site.

We got the hood or our Gas range (also from Samsung). We used the rear vent to connect to an external exhaust outlet. Even at the "low" speed setting it is quite powerful - with the external vent flap opening half-way. At the "high" speed setting it really packs (throws) a punch!
Only feature that was not useful was the Bluetooth connectivity - apparently it is not compatible to all Samsung cooktops (even ones which have a Bluetooth/WiFi capability).

I was wondering if the filters the hood comes with are the kind that is only effective if connected to an air vent. I don't have a vent, so it'll have to be recycling the air. I was told that I need to purchase charcoal filters from Samsung to add to/switch with the existing filters. Is it true or do the filters the hood comes with already have the option on circulating the exterior air? How often would I have to wash them? Can I wash them in the dishwasher or only hand wash? Please address every question. Thank you.

Range hood is awesome, but I have a small kitchen. Not big enough for a cooktop and ovens. So I got the drop in convection range. Needless to say, I did not know until installing it that it was not compatible with the range when hooking up wifi. I would only refer this product with the purchase of a cooktop. Why make a product that works with one item? That in itself doesn't make sense.
