I love my new Whirlpool refrigerator. I had another Whirlpool that had the freezer at the bottom and I never liked it. It came with the house. I prefer the side by side, with the freezer on the left side. It's easier to see what one has and has a lot more space for everything. I have always liked the Whirlpool products and all my appliances are either Whirlpool or Maytag.

Lots of space on both fridge and freezer side. Highlights- in-door ice maker, external temp control of both freezer and fridge, great lighting both sides. Improvements: taller water and ice dispenser area, humidity control bar on top crisper drawer, can caddy would be nice additions. Quiet, and the best thing is the water filter works GREAT! Water and ice taste FANTASTIC. Very pleased with purchase.

This refergator is nice overall, however, the icemaker was very slow to make ice at first, And the cold water service dispensed warm water. We reset the icemaker twice before it finally started making ice. When the icemaker started working, the water dispenser started dispensing cold water. It takes about 24 hours to stableize arter it is plugged in.

We are really enjoying this refrigerator! Size is great for what we need and we love the small third drawer where we keep our lunch meats and cheeses.. The shelves in the door are ample for our use as well. The icemaker is so easy to use and we love the little cubes. We are happy with our Whirlpool side-by-side. It's definitely a step up from our previous side-by-side which we only had for 6 years. The "measured water" dispenser is nice. We were hesitant to get another "ice maker in the door" freezer, but this one works great and we like the size of the cubes. We've had a few issues that were promptly addressed (ice maker dispenser not working and installers put the freezer door handle on wrong so it came off). We appreciate the fact that Whirlpool was responsive and we could get an appointment quickly.

Warped freezer outside panel

Product works very well. However, after installation and within 24 hours, the right side panel where the freezer sit, the outer panel started to bulge and continued over several days before stabalizing. Replaced the refridgerator with a like-kind but the problem re-occured. The problem is identified as a design flaw. Outside of the warped panel, the unit has functioned very well.

I don't love a side-by-side, but this model has more room than the Frigidaire I had before. I don't love the ice maker because it does get icy in the place where the ice bin in but I love the size of the ice cubes, and it does keep up with a lot of use. There are three drawers, which I like quite a bit. I had one melon freeze that was close to the back of the top shelf, but that was probably my fault for putting it in the back

Since I have received this particular refrigerator, I am not very pleased with the icemaker function. I am having Bucket from the inside for it to dispense ice and I have had Jetson™€™s come out look at it and they say that there is an air leak somewhere they cannot find it and they replaced two parts on it, and I was told that they were going to replace the whole door now to solve the problem, but I™€™m having to have another service call just for that to happen so I™€™m not very happy with the inconvenience of a refrigerator that™€™s supposed to be so more high-tech technology and having so much problems with an icemaker when I had my other whirlpool for 12 years and had one problem in the 12 years with it so I™€™m not happy

I do like Whirlpool, and for the most part, I like this refrigerator. I like the concept of the ice-maker in the door to give more freezer space, and it would be great if the ice-maker actually worked, but most of the time it does not. There is a note in the door that says if the ice-maker gets too full, it may not work, but we have tried everything and it only dispenses ice 1 of 10 attempts. Not only that, but when I contacted Whirlpool less than a month after delivery, I was told to fill out a work order online. The phone number I was given for the local repair person would not answer, but after I left a message, called me back. Once I told him I needed service on my ice-maker, he hung up on me and I have not been able to reach him since. So...we have resigned ourselves to opening the freezer door and pulling out the ice by hand.

We liked the looks of the refrigerator and the amount of shelving, the most important thing was the ice maker. VERY VERY disappointed. Brand new and the ice maker dispenser will not work. Called a repair man, he came out and we also called customer service. Paid the repair man, part was ordered. Get an email the part was ordered and we are to get 100% of our bill to get the refrigerator repaired. STILL waiting for the part and the money to be refunded. We paid alot of money for the refrigerator and we do not like what we are going through. Husband tried customer service and kept being told a different department to call. Very disappointed with the product and customer service.

Disappointing failure

The ice maker failed the day after the refrigerator was delivered. We requested service, then learned that this is a common problem with this refrigerator because of the location of the wiring in the freezer door. We were advised it could take 6 months to get a replacement door (if then). We elected to return this refrigerator (which otherwise we liked) and replace it with a different brand. Have had excellent reliability from previous 2 Whirlpool refrigerators owned, didn't hesitate to buy another Whirlpool, but now no longer trust the brand.

Worth the Investment

Since purchasing the unit in April, it has worked as expected. Lots of freezer storage and the unit makes ice fast. Lots of side door storage in the fridge section. Normal operation can be a little loud at times but overall, it is a good buy for the price we paid.

Freezer seems good. Have not had it long enough to rate reliability. Looks ok though I really don™€™t care for the ugly grey finish on the sides. Does not do a good job of keeping fresh produce.

Temperature control in the refrigerator section is poor. We found items freezing and increased the set temperature to 40 degrees, but still find items verging on freezing. The vents are clear so that is not the problem. The design just does not provide consistent air flow, apparently.

Too many Problems

The freezer side has to be set at 0°F to work properly, but when it is, anything placed too close to the interior wall on the fridge side ends up freezing. The barrier between the freezer and fridge sections just isn™€™t sufficient, and having to keep all food and drinks pushed to the right side to avoid freezing is unreasonable. The unit also makes a metallic vibrating noise whenever the compressor turns on. I have to physically adjust or slightly roll the refrigerator an inch or two in different directions to get the noise to stop.

Temperature control completely unsatisfactory. Food in fresh compartment was freezing since new and had to be discarded. A technician determined the damper was defective and replaced it. Performance was satisfactory for two weeks and then returned to freezing food. The temperature tended to stay about 28 degrees regardless of the programed temperature selected. Recently the temperature tends to wander from 28 to 36 degrees but at first opening in the morning 28 degrees is typical. Welcome Whirlpool support !

Loud noise on fan/compressor, ice maker cannot output ice cubes properly, some food in the freezer section gets frosty for no reason, racks on side door are too lose, and storage shelves are cheaply made which makes shelf open/close harder. Overall the refrigerator performs well and has plenty of storage space.

Nice Refrigerator with Ample Inside Lighting

We've had our new "side by side" fridge for about a month now ... What I like best about it is how nice and bright it is on the inside and all the shelves that allows us to find everything easily ... What I don't like is the ice dispenser freezes up on a daily basis ... So when we want to get some ice from the door dispenser, we open the freezer door, bang the ice container a few times, shut the door, and try to fill our glass with ice ... The dispenser is very finicky, sometimes we get the amount of ice we want, other times we have to push on the release lever multiple times ...Hopefully the repair person who is coming tomorrow can resolve the issue ...

So far I am pleased with the purchase. I thought I wouldn't need the ice maker, but I tend to use it much more than I thought. I did buy an air filter, which comes in handy so there are no smells. I also bought a device for my crisper drawer to keep food longer. It is perfect for my household. For the most part, the only time I hear the refrigerator is when it is about ready to make ice. So far I am happy with the purchase and glad for the side by side, especially so I can find things in the freezer (vs. my last one that was a bottom loading freezer and hard to find things.) I bought a thermometer for the freezer and refrigerator and show that the temperatures for each are pretty much right on target with what the frig/freezer states. Thumbs up!

It™€™s a Nice Refrigerator with a Couple of Caveats

Overall, the refrigerator is very nice but has three issues that affect its usability and score. There was not a display model for us to look at, so we bought it based on its features, capacity, and price and couldn™€™t have checked on these issues beforehand. First, the switches on the water and ice dispensers are quite difficult to press and take a lot of pressure to activate. It sometimes feels like you might break the drinking glass because you have to press so hard to trigger them. Second, we really miss not having a covered shelf in the top of the refrigerator door. This is much more useful than an open bin that you have to reach into from above when it is already at quite a high height. Third, we only use cubed ice and the ice dispenser is really sloppy and throws ice chips out all over the place onto the dispenser door shelf and onto the floor. You must hold the glass as high as possible under the ice dispenser opening to reduce the spread of ice, but even doing this, some ice still escapes and makes a bit of a mess. These are relatively minor issues, but they do impact the refrigerator™€™s daily use. We have mostly adjusted to these idiosyncrasies but would be completely happy with the appliance if they didn™€™t exist.

Its a nice fridge/freezer but even with keeping the inconveniently placed air filters clear I find things in my fridge are randomly frozen. The freezer works good, pretty good space. Fridge space is decent but is poorly affected by the air flow vents. The water dispenser has an automatic fill which is nice but it doesnt measure correctly and you think in a day and age where everyone has a "Stanley " cup or similar that the cup area would be bigger to accommodate these cups.

The lock unlock on the temperature locks all on the screen. Quest hit the temperature by accident. The dual temperature doesn't seem to work as expected. The normal butter holder is no longer available on this model, strange? The air flow vents are easy to block.
